About Como Cocoa Island

Located in a quieter area away from the main resort hubs, Cocoa Island offers undisturbed tranquility amidst the South Malé Atolls. A mere 40-minute speedboat ride from Malé International Airport, this luxurious 5-star resort overlooks serene cerulean waters. The long, thin island, approximately 350 meters, boasts a picturesque sand spit that disappears with the tide. Preserving the natural landscape of palms, wild sea grapes, and hibiscus, the island's house reef creates a crystal-clear lagoon teeming with marine life, including rays and baby sharks. The calm, current-free waters make Cocoa Island ideal for families. Designed by Singaporean architect Cheong Yew Kuan, the resort showcases a sophisticated blend of contemporary and indigenous styles using natural materials. Its 33 overwater bungalows, perched on the lagoon's southern edge, are accessible by planked walkways and feature New Zealand pine with Kajan thatched roofs. Inside, high-raftered ceilings and glossy teak floors create an airy ambiance. Floor-to-ceiling glass windows open onto private decks, perfect for lounging or al fresco dining. The clean, airy interiors, in hues of white and blue, evoke a Hamptons beach hut vibe. The resort's restaurant, Ufaa, meaning happy in the Maldivian language, completes the tranquil experience.
