About Cunda Callisto Hotel & Spa

THE STORY OF CALLISTO A sanctuary for Aegean leisure Embracing the beauties of the world, the wonders of the galaxy, the secrets of the past, and the essence of today, Callisto Hotel revives the mythological figure, the Arcadian nymph Callisto in its every detail. Under the shining sky, embraced by olive groves and steeped in ancient culture, Callisto Hotel is a sanctuary for Aegean leisure by the most beautiful shore of Cunda Island. Here, each stay is a ritual. Callisto (Kallisto in Greek) was an Arcadian nymph, whose name translates to English as “most beautiful. ” She was the daughter of King Lycaon and one of the goddess Artemis’ huntress companions who swore to remain unwed. But she was loved by Zeus and, in several variations of the legend, was turned into a she-bear either by Zeus to conceal his deed from Hera or by Artemis or Hera who were enraged at her unchastity. Her son with Zeus, named Arcas, became the king of his land that was later referred to as Arcadia. King Arcas saw Callisto, the bear-mother of the Arcadians, and was about to shoot her when Zeus descended from Mount Olympus and placed both of them in the skies to avoid the tragedy and protect her. Callisto became the constellation we know today as Ursa Major (Big Bear), making Arcas the Ursa Minor (Small Bear), two of the most powerful constellations in the sky, guarding the north side of the horizon. Taking its name from the beautiful and powerful Greek Nymph, Callisto Hotel spans places and cultures of past, present and future, while staying deeply connected to the environment around it. Comprising various dedicated spaces, including spa, restaurant, wine cellar and concept store, Callisto offers a holistic experience that feels like a journey of exploration in its own right.
