About The Scholar

Located in the leafy Southside of Edinburgh, in the beautiful grounds of the Pollock Estate, The Scholar is a newly refurbished hotel within walking distance of all of the city's world famous landmarks. We take a serious approach to quality and comfort. All of the bedrooms in The Scholar are luxurious and feature large beds, Elite mattresses, and quality linen to ensure the best possible night's sleep. All rooms also include a TV with a whole host of channels, award winning Novus tea and cafetiere coffee, and a desk with ample work space. Our large bathrooms include rainfall showers, Laura Thomas toiletries and fluffy towels. The hotel's contemporary restaurant, bar and garden dining area proudly serve the highest quality breakfast, lunch and dinner. We focus on using locally sourced Scottish ingredients, from Stornoway black pudding at breakfast to serving Holyrood Gin from our neighbouring distillery, allowing you to sample Edinburgh's excellent food and drink scene without needing to leave the hotel. If you are seeking inspiration for what to do, the local Southside neighbourhood buzzes with small restaurants, bars and an eclectic mix of independent shops. Our friendly staff are always on hand to help and share their top tips on the best places to explore. We offer free parking on site but have limited availability. We also offer 18 free electric vehicle charging points (electric charging requires a 'Charge Places Scotland' card which can be borrowed from reception).
